Recently, I decided to advertise my animated lyric videos on the global freelancing platform, FIVERR.
How’s my experience of Fiverr so far, you ask?
It’s GOOD. When I first started on it, just over a month ago, I was handpicked by editors, so one of my gigs got a LOT more exposure than my others - It’s reasonable to think that this additional exposure then provided me with my first Fiverr job. It all went pretty swimmingly, I ascertained a 5-star review and we both left happy. I was a little shocked at the payment terms, Fiverr’s cut and the losses accumulated in the currency exchange. It took 14 days to process the payment, then a further 4 days to be withdrawn into my Payoneer account. Fiverr took 20% of the full amount, which was then converted to GBP and underwent further charges with Payoneer.
Here’s the amount I was originally expecting from my first gig (a one-day advertisement project):
$237 = £190
This was then subjected to the 20% Fiverr cut:
£190 * 80% = £152
-£1 Payoneer charge = £151.
I actually ended up with exactly £147.75 and to this day, I have no idea where that £3.25 went, but I suppose it could be worse…
Since then, I was offered the position on Fiverr as a Pro in lyric and music videos.
Naturally, I took it, and I have to say, it’s opened up lots of opportunities already! There was a three-week delay before I could organise a Skype meeting with my client manager, but once he gave me all the information, my gig was made active and has since been gaining significant amounts of interest on their Pro platform. I’m currently awaiting feedback from my first Pro client.
Fiverr PRO also offer a “BYOB” scheme, meaning you share a tracked link to new customers, and if they choose to go ahead with your gig, you get 100% of the revenue. This is a great perk, as a 20% finders fee seems pretty steep, especially as a PRO.
An advantage of being a PRO is that the processing time for getting paid is halved; from 14 days to only 7.

Lastly, if anybody has any information on whether it’s more cost effective to use Paypal or Payoneer on Fiverr (as a UK resident), then please let me know - it’s a question I can’t find a straight answer to online, and may make a significant difference to the amount that reaches my bank after conversions and fees…
